Brazilian Instagram influencer Marta Kelly de Oliveira Silva has died at the age of 33 as a result of complications following cosmetic surgery. According to reports from Brazil, Silva underwent the procedure on August 12, was discharged, but was re-hospitalized the following day in intensive care, where she subsequently passed away.
The procedure she underwent was a "3-in-1" operation: liposuction, breast implants, and a tummy tuck. Despite media reports, her family has not confirmed the specific details of the surgery or the nature of the complications.
"We lost the battle. It is still so hard to write these words," wrote her husband, Marcus Vinicius, in a statement announcing her death. "I don't think there is a sentence that can explain the depth of the pain I feel now. Marta was the love of my life."
Marta was a mother of three sons. Her Instagram account, which had 267,000 followers, featured moments of motherhood and family life. Marcus, who had been with Marta for 15 years, wrote:
"Marta was my best friend, my partner, the best woman I could have asked for, and an extraordinary mother to our children. She fought until the last moment. She fought with all the strength she had."
He added: "Now begins the hardest task of my life: to move on and raise our three sons in the way she would have wanted. I will do everything I can so that they grow up and know exactly who their mother was and how much she loved them. She will be present in every part of their lives." Marta was laid to rest in Volta Redonda on Tuesday morning.
