Suicide Attempt

A dispute has erupted between the police and the Israel Prison Service (IPS) following a suicide attempt by a detainee at the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court. It has emerged that the police report transferred to the IPS failed to mention the suspect's suicidal background.

An inmate at HaSharon Prison barricaded himself on a balcony in one of the wings while wounded, threatening to commit suicide. Forces from the Masada unit, prison guards, and a negotiation team took control of him, and he was transferred for medical treatment.
