The Supreme Court heard a petition from Likud against the Central Elections Committee's decision to ban the real-time transfer of voter data from polling stations.

Supreme Court justices rejected the petitions regarding the placement of polling stations in nursing homes and assisted living facilities after the Central Elections Committee formulated an alternative outline on its own initiative. However, President Amit sharply criticized the Knesset's refusal to legislate a permanent arrangement for the elderly population who have difficulty moving.

With 69 days until the elections, the police are preparing for extreme scenarios. While previous preparations focused on maintaining election integrity, new operational plans are now being developed to address potential security threats.

Petitions were filed by dozens of senior citizens after the Knesset canceled the arrangement allowing polling stations in assisted living facilities. Despite this significant achievement, the struggle continues, as approximately 100 additional stations will not be opened due to political considerations.

The state is considering placing 159 polling stations in nursing homes for the upcoming elections to allow residents to vote on-site. 127 of these locations have already been confirmed as accessible, following a petition by senior citizens to the Supreme Court.

The shameful decision to exclude residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities from the polling station map in the Knesset elections characterizes the state's indifferent attitude toward pensioners. I hope that the Supreme Court together with the Central Elections Committee will find a way to resolve the problem.

The Supreme Court criticized the rejection of the arrangement that allowed for polling stations to be placed in nursing homes with 75 or more residents, and warned of harm to the elderly's ability to exercise their right to vote. The Central Elections Committee was required to provide an update by Monday.
