Two bathers in the Sea of Galilee were diagnosed with corneal damage attributed to the microsporidia parasite. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that swimming is permitted, but recommends contacting an ophthalmologist if redness, pain, or a foreign body sensation occur.

In the United States, a large-scale outbreak of cyclosporiasis has been keeping health authorities busy in recent weeks. According to the CDC, since the beginning of May there have been reports of more than 1,600 laboratory-confirmed cases and more than 5,000 additional cases are under investigation. The FDA and the CDC are investigating a possible link to Iceberg Lettuce imported from Mexico.
