A preliminary report released Thursday details an August 4 incident where US President Donald Trump's helicopter and a passenger plane came dangerously close in the Washington area. Due to communication issues, air traffic controllers did not receive timely notice of the "Marine One" takeoff and cleared a commercial flight to depart from Reagan Airport simultaneously.

The US President departed from the White House toward Andrews Air Force Base when a passenger plane was cleared for takeoff from Reagan National Airport in violation of safety protocols. The aircraft came into close proximity, though the FAA stated that Donald Trump's life was never in danger.
