The move joins Nauru and Colombia, which are expected to open missions soon.

A political storm is shaking Lebanon following the arrest of a senior retired Syrian officer inside the Syrian embassy in Beirut. The newspaper "Al-Akhbar" accuses authorities of attempting a secret transfer to Damascus and covering up the incident, signaling a return of Syrian influence in the country.
