Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune blamed foreign nations for fueling armed groups in the Sahel and declared the diplomatic rupture with the UAE irreversible.

Algeria severed diplomatic relations with the UAE on Tuesday, citing deep-seated tensions over regional disputes, ties with Morocco, and foreign policy friction.

At least 73 people were killed in one town, including 21 members of one family. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune claimed that "criminal hands" might be behind the blazes. Search efforts for additional victims continue.
