Alexander Courtyard

The Russian ambassador to Israel arrived at the Alexander Courtyard in the Old City with a large delegation, days after claiming that "only legal procedures need to be completed" to transfer the historic site to Moscow. In Israel, it is emphasized that no decision has yet been made. The Ukrainian nuns who operate the place: "Russian clergy have already asked us 'when are you leaving?'"

The Russian Embassy in Israel said that the process of re-registering Russian ownership rights over the compound in the Old City of Jerusalem is in its final stages. Meanwhile, in Israel it is said that it is not possible to set an exact timetable for completing the process—which has been ongoing for about a decade.
