Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has successfully completed the maiden flight of an Airbus A330-300 converted from a passenger plane to a freighter. This milestone marks the expansion of IAI's conversion operations into wide-body Airbus aircraft.

The closure of Israeli airspace during combat operations exposed the economy's vulnerability in air cargo capacity. Cargo volumes plummeted, and the lack of a government emergency plan leaves the country dependent on private sector initiatives.
