Bereaved Father Apologizes to Gadi Eisenkot, Police Complaint Dropped
Yossi Cohen, whose son was killed on October 7, met with MK Gadi Eisenkot to apologize for threats made outside his home. Eisenkot accepted the apology and dropped the police complaint.

Yossi Cohen, whose son Amit Cohen was killed at the Nova music festival on October 7, met with Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot and his wife Hanna to apologize for harsh remarks he made outside their home earlier this week. Cohen's wife, Orly, also joined the meeting. Following the encounter, Cohen expressed remorse for his statements directed at the family and apologized to their late son, Gal Eisenkot, who fell in combat in the Gaza Strip in December 2023. Eisenkot accepted the apology and instructed that a police complaint filed against Cohen over threats be dropped.
The meeting followed an incident on Sunday when Cohen arrived outside the Eisenkot family home and was filmed shouting through a megaphone at the former IDF chief of staff. Party officials later stated that Cohen also made direct threats against Hanna Eisenkot. In response, the Yashar! party filed a police complaint on Monday for death threats.
At the end of the meeting, Cohen issued a formal apology. "A few days ago, I arrived near the home of MK Gadi Eisenkot and hurled harsh and terrible things at Gadi and his family. I wish to apologize first and foremost to the late Gal, to Hanna, and to Gadi," he said. Cohen also called for an end to politically motivated violence, urging the public and politicians to respect differing views and maintain national unity.
The Eisenkot family stated that Gadi Eisenkot accepted the apology wholeheartedly and moved to cancel the police complaint, closing an episode that had drawn widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum.
