Yoni Chetboun: "A soldiers' mutiny during wartime is unacceptable"

During the program "The Patriots" on Channel 14, Colonel (res.) Yoni Chetboun addressed the phenomenon of soldiers abandoning bases and laying down their weapons during wartime. Chetboun emphasized that this is a grave act that must not be legitimized, as its consequences could be devastating.

"This absurdity, this delusion, when they say soldiers are leaving and abandoning a military base in a mutiny and laying down weapons, and the whole world sees it during a war. This must not happen, I don't even care what the reason is. It will not happen," said Chetboun. He added: "The enemy sees this. During a war, to abandon posts and stage a mutiny is unacceptable, no matter how much we love the soldiers."

Chetboun argued that giving legitimacy to these acts, even from the national camp, could validate similar actions by other groups. "The legitimacy we want to give to our soldiers here, to the same extent, gives legitimacy to 'Brothers in Arms' and 'Kaplan Force.' Because if you give legitimacy to such a mutiny, you are telling them: you were right," he explained.

He emphasized the studio's support for the soldiers but set a clear boundary: "This studio has given strength to soldiers against 'Force 100,' against the Military Advocate General, and during the war. But there are limits. This you will not do."
