Armed Suspect Detained Near Yair Golan During Tel Aviv Campaign Tour
Security guards intercepted a suspicious armed individual near The Democrats leader Yair Golan during a Tel Aviv campaign tour. Police confirmed no stabbing attempt occurred, as investigations continue amid heightened security.

An incident unfolded on Tuesday at HaMesila Park in Tel Aviv during an election campaign tour by The Democrats leader, Maj. Gen. (res.) Yair Golan. Security personnel intercepted a suspicious individual wearing a jacket who approached Golan, causing a large knife to fall from his clothing as guards intervened.
Guards swiftly subdued the suspect before any action could be carried out. Police forces summoned to the scene arrested the individual and transferred him for further interrogation. Authorities are currently investigating the suspect's motives and whether he intended to harm Golan.
Police clarified that, contrary to initial reports, no stabbing attempt targeted Golan. According to law enforcement, security forces noticed a suspicious object protruding from the coat of a nearby individual during the park tour. The suspect, a man in his twenties from Jerusalem, was detained and transferred to the Lev Tel Aviv police station. Police noted that the suspect is a homeless individual with a history of suicide attempts, and investigators stated there was no indication of an intent to stab Golan.
The incident occurred amid growing security concerns surrounding the leader of The Democrats. Police recently elevated Golan's security threat level to 4 out of 6, classified as high risk. Just a day prior, following an extended legal battle, the Shin Bet assumed responsibility for his protection.
Responding to the incident, Golan sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Incitement and violence will not deter us; this is a direct result of the poison machine operated by Netanyahu and his agents," Golan stated, urging citizens to vote to safeguard democracy.
Activist Nava Rozolio also blamed the leadership, stating that the incident reflects ongoing political incitement comparable to historical events, emphasizing determination to pursue political change.
