WhatsApp has updated its user interface for Android devices, relocating the edit button to the top of the screen. Users attempting to modify a message within 15 minutes of sending must now long-press the message and select the pencil icon located next to the delete option in the top action bar, replacing the previous menu placement.

For iOS users, the editing process remains unchanged, requiring a long-press on the specific message to access the edit function.

In addition to the interface adjustment, platform tracking reports indicate that WhatsApp is developing a new preview feature for Android. This functionality will allow users to read incoming messages directly from the chat list without opening the conversation or triggering blue read receipts.

According to the development details, long-pressing a chat will display a preview of recent messages alongside a new action menu. Read receipts will only update once the user formally opens the chat. The new interface will also allow Android users to scroll through the preview window to review previous messages, a feature currently unavailable on iOS versions.
