A new project called Your AI Slop Bores Me invites users to swap roles with AI. Instead of prompting a machine, you become the chatbot yourself, fulfilling requests from other real-world users in real-time.
Language models are far from perfect. They ramble, hallucinate, and often spout nonsense with confidence while trying to please you. So, do you think you could do better?
A new and particularly amusing project suggests you abandon advanced AI models and become a chatbot yourself, fulfilling human prompts in a hilarious experiment.
One minute, go
The tool, aptly named Your AI Slop Bores Me, offers two options. The first is to enter prompts into a chat window, where you are answered not by a model with trillions of parameters, but by another human using the site just like you.
The second option involves LARPing as an AI. You read and execute prompts from other flesh-and-blood users. It is a long-form joke about our reliance on AI and a great way to kill time while waiting for a train or sitting in a parking lot.
Like any self-respecting AI, the system uses a credit-based approach: you get one credit to start, and to earn more, you must act as the AI yourself. The site is full of witty copy, such as a warning that Sam Altman will burn your H100 if you don't respond on time, or a disclaimer reminding users that "humans make mistakes and that is what makes us human"—a clear jab at major AI labs.
A horse riding a human
I tested the site and quickly received a prompt: a drawing of a horse riding a human. As expected, the drawing was primitive, as you have exactly 150 seconds to respond. This time limit prevents trolling or passing the task to another model. You must draw using a tool that feels like Windows "Paint." If a prompt doesn't suit you, you can simply skip it.
In my experience, responding within a minute is stressful, even when the goal is just to troll strangers. When asked to draw my favorite cartoon character, I wasted precious time thinking and ended up quickly sketching Deadpool. I also discovered that the system has filters; my joking suggestion involving self-flagellation was blocked for violating language guidelines.
For those interested, there is a community Discord server and a "hall of fame" for the most successful users, featuring impressive works like a version of Van Gogh's "Starry Night."
And something a bit more dystopian
There is another way to step into the machine's shoes. An intriguing final project in visual communication at HIT College, titled Humains, takes this idea into deeper, more dystopian realms. Created by Noa Biran, a designer at the startup Island, it explores our relationship with AI and the moments we develop trust or dependence, leading to extreme actions like marriage, attempted murder, or suicide.
In this installation, you become an "Operator" using an interface built on BASE44. You are no longer the one seeking advice, but the one influencing others, gaining firsthand experience with the emotional dependence and burning ethical issues of the field.
