Waves up to 2.5 meters: Warning for bathers and return of heatwave next week
The Meteorological Service warns of high waves and strong currents along the Mediterranean coast over the coming days. Following a brief respite from the heat, temperatures are expected to rise again by the middle of next week, exceeding seasonal averages.
The relative respite from the heatwave felt today, Friday, will be accompanied from the late afternoon by westerly winds, which are expected to bring the highest waves of the current summer season so far. Waves are expected to reach heights of 2 to 2.5 meters, accompanied by strong currents along the Mediterranean coast. The Meteorological Service has issued a "high and dangerous sea" warning for today and tomorrow.
Tomorrow, after the morning cloud cover dissipates, conditions will become fair with a slight rise in temperatures and an increase in heat stress. On Sunday morning, it will be partly cloudy, with light rain possible along the coastal plain. Later in the day, it will become clear. Temperatures will drop slightly, falling just below seasonal averages in the mountains and inland regions.
By the middle of next week, after a short break, the heatwave will return in full force with temperatures higher than usual for the season. However, the solar radiation index for today remains very high to extreme. In the Kinneret Valley, on the Dead Sea coast, in the Jordan Valley, and in the Arava, extreme heat stress is still expected today. According to the forecast, temperatures in Eilat are expected to reach 41 degrees, and 39 degrees in Ein Gedi.
