Violence in Arab society: Man shot to death in Kuseife — Police open investigation

The police opened an investigation this evening (Thursday) following a suspected shooting incident near the town of Kuseife, during which two men were wounded, one moderately and one critically. Both were evacuated for medical treatment to the Soroka Medical Center, where the death of the critically wounded man was pronounced by medical personnel.

Officers from the Ar'ara station were summoned to the scene, initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, and are currently working to collect evidence, conduct searches, and locate the suspects involved. The police stated that, according to a preliminary check, the background to the incident is criminal.

Earlier this week, the death of Raad Hazamiya was reported—a 22-year-old resident of Haifa who was seriously wounded in the abdomen by gunfire on the morning of April 30 on Shabtai Levi Street, on the seam between the Hadar and Wadi Nisnas neighborhoods. He was rushed to Rambam Hospital in Haifa and was later transferred to Sheba Hospital in Tel HaShomer at his family's request.

Doctors ultimately pronounced his death due to his injuries. The investigation is being conducted by the Central Unit of the Coastal District and was reclassified as a murder investigation tonight. No arrests have been reported yet. Raad Hazamiya is the 157th victim of violent crime in Arab society since the beginning of 2026, marking a 13% increase compared to the same period last year, which also ended with a record number of murders.
