Will it break the record? The insane achievement of "Spider-Man: A New Day"
The film about the Spider-Man, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, crossed the $2 billion mark in just three weeks since its release, thus entering an elite club of eight films in history that have crossed the threshold. This is the amount remaining for it to surpass "Avengers: Endgame".
After just three weekends in theaters, "Spider-Man: A New Day" has crossed the $2 billion mark in global ticket sales, according to a report in Variety. The new film in the Spider-Man series, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, is one of only eight films in history to have crossed the $2 billion mark, so there is a significant chance it will reach the number one spot of all time. The film joins "Avatar" from 2009, "Avengers: Endgame" from 2019, "Avatar: The Way of Water" from 2022, "Titanic", "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", and "Avengers: Infinity War". The previous film in the series, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" released in 2021, reached only $1.9 billion — partly because it was not released in China. Already, the new Spider-Man film is the eighth highest-grossing film of all time worldwide. In Israel, too, the film broke an all-time record, with more than 250,000 tickets sold during its first weekend of screening in the country, more than "Avengers: Endgame" which held the record before it.
