Israeli technology is gaining recognition even in one of the most traditional fields in the world of beverages: wine. The Austrian wine brand Zeronimo, produced at the Prodalim group's factory using its proprietary SOLOS technology, reached first place in the USA TODAY 10Best readers' choice awards for 2026, in the category of best non-alcoholic wine.

For Prodalim, which deals with the development of solutions and natural ingredients for the beverage industry, the win is primarily a test of the technological process it has developed. The challenge in producing non-alcoholic wine is not limited to removing the alcohol from the drink. The process must do so without losing the aromas, body, and characteristics that distinguish wine from grape juice along the way.

Zeronimo wines are based on grapes from old Austrian vines, 50 to 90 years old, including local varieties such as Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt. After the wine is produced, it undergoes a dealcoholization process at the Prodalim factory based on SOLOS technology.

According to the company, the process allows for the removal of alcohol while simultaneously preserving the natural aromas and body of the original wine, without the addition of artificial flavors. In doing so, Prodalim attempts to address one of the most prominent problems of the non-alcoholic wine category — the gap in taste and mouthfeel compared to regular wine.

"The prestigious win in the USA is recognition of our vision for producing high-quality non-alcoholic wines without compromise," said Tzahi Barak, CEO of Prodalim. "We invested technological resources and extensive knowledge in our production facilities to prove that it is possible to produce non-alcoholic wine that preserves the original aroma of the wine. The recognition from the American public and experts is a great pride for Prodalim and a significant step forward for the entire category."

The win comes in parallel with the expansion of Prodalim's activity in the non-alcoholic beverage sector, which it centralizes under the technological brand SOLOS. The activity began in Germany, and in the last year expanded to Spain and the United States, and recently also entered Switzerland.

For the Israeli company, the first place of Zeronimo is not just an achievement of an Austrian wine brand. It is also a showcase for the technology behind it — and above all, an attempt to prove that the next generation of non-alcoholic beverages does not have to settle for a sweet imitation of the real thing.
