Mother and son accidentally entered Jenin and were attacked

A mother and her son, residents of Samaria, accidentally entered the city of Jenin on Thursday after leaving Homesh on their way to meet friends in Afula. The two left the city unharmed, though their vehicle sustained damage.

According to the mother, they got stuck in traffic during the drive, and only then did she realize that the navigation app had mistakenly led them into Jenin. Once traffic began to clear, dozens of Palestinians gathered around their vehicle, threw stones, and attempted to open the doors. The vehicle's rear window was shattered during the attack.

The mother contacted the security center of the Samaria Regional Council, where she was guided by phone on how to exit the city. She accelerated and managed to escape with her son. They arrived at the Gilboa crossing and met with security forces stationed there. There were no injuries reported.

"My eldest son and I wanted to get to Afula for a meeting with friends. While in traffic, I realized we had taken the wrong road and that Waze had taken us to Jenin. When the traffic ended, dozens of people started approaching us, trying to open the doors and throwing stones. I drove at full speed and managed to get out. Thank God we were saved," the mother recounted.

Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, spoke with the mother after the incident and described it as a "serious attempted lynching."

"I commend the mother for her resourcefulness that saved her life and the life of her son. The State of Israel must defeat the terror in Jenin and ensure that such incidents do not recur," he stated.

At the same time, IDF forces are operating in Jenin as part of an operation to arrest wanted persons, conducting searches in homes and questioning residents.
