A lesson from Loizos: Douglas Owusu has no release clause at Hapoel Tel Aviv

Following the summer saga of Loizos Loizou, who utilized the 3 million euro release clause in his contract and moved to Red Star Belgrade for a relatively low fee after a great season in the Premier League, the Reds' new signing, Douglas Owusu, has no release clause.

It should be noted that even when purchasing Loizou from Omonia Nicosia, the Reds tried to avoid a release clause, but it was a condition for the deal from the player and his representatives. This time, in the case of Owusu, Hapoel Tel Aviv clarified in advance that the deal would be carried out without a release clause, to which the player and his representatives agreed.

Hapoel Tel Aviv is aware of the buzz and questions surrounding the midfielder, given the speed with which Red Star decided to sell him a few months after purchasing him, or the fact that he has not yet proven himself at high levels, but they clarify that:

"Despite the price and the expectation for here and now, we have patience for a proper process with Owusu as well, no one expects him to immediately carry the team on his back."

The one who will have to make the professional adjustments for Owusu is Elyaniv Barda, who managed last season to find the balance between Loizos Loizou and Stav Turiel when one played in the center. Owusu has hardly played in the number 10 position that is missing at Hapoel Tel Aviv, but the signing was made after consultation with the entire professional staff at the club, who made the decision that it would be possible to integrate him into several positions and that the range of improvement and the professional leap he can make is great.
