Influencer close to Trump: Considering dismissing ambassador who claimed that "the Golan Heights belong to Syria"

According to a report by Laura Loomer, a content creator and right-wing figure close to President Donald Trump and the White House, officials in the US administration are expressing significant dissatisfaction with the performance of the US Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Burke. According to her, officials in the White House and the State Department hold him responsible for the recent tension between Israel and Turkey and are examining the possibility of recalling him to the US.

The report, published on Loomer's page on the social network X, comes after Burke referred in a podcast to the Golan Heights as "territory that has been historically recognized in international decisions as belonging to Syria." According to Loomer, the statement sparked anger in the White House, partly because it contradicts President Trump's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights during his first term.

According to Loomer's sources, the State Department believes that Burke was a factor in the tension that led to the Israeli strike on a base in northern Syria, where Turkey was attempting to establish a presence. According to the understanding of officials in the White House, Burke created the impression in Jerusalem that Israel would not find a sympathetic ear regarding concerns related to Turkey, thereby contributing to the Israeli decision to act independently.

Loomer claims that the administration believes Burke "does not understand or does not want to understand President Trump's policy in the region." According to her, internal discussions are taking place regarding the possibility of recalling the ambassador to the US and removing him from his sensitive diplomatic position. Loomer further claims that a State Department official told her that Burke is on "thin ice" with the Trump administration and the State Department, and that there are officials in the administration who want him returned to Washington. According to her, numerous complaints regarding his conduct were received at the State Department over the weekend.

According to Loomer, Burke was even called this week to return to Washington for "consultations." She claims that a State Department official told her cynically that the office "wants him gone so badly that maybe we will hire movers to pack his belongings for him."
