A 70-year-old woman and her son in his 40s from Kiryat Gat were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of drug trafficking and possession offenses. During a raid conducted by Kiryat Gat police officers at their home, authorities discovered a substance suspected to be crystal meth. The substance has been transferred to police forensic laboratories for testing and evidence collection.

Kiryat Gat station commander, Chief Superintendent Shai Elali, stated:

"The Israel Police acts continuously and decisively against drug offenses and those involved in their distribution. Intelligence and operational activity allow us to locate suspects, seize substances suspected of being drugs, and thwart criminal activity that harms public safety and the quality of life of our residents."

"Kiryat Gat police officers will continue to act proactively and in a focused manner to bring those involved to justice and remove criminal elements from the public sphere," the commander concluded.

This arrest follows the detention of a lawyer on Tuesday, who was caught attempting to smuggle a suspected narcotic substance to a prisoner during a legal visit. The substance was seized on the spot and transferred for further testing as part of the ongoing investigation.
