3-year-old from Jerusalem choked on a grape: condition stabilized after resuscitation

A 3-year-old girl from Jerusalem choked on a grape today, Tuesday, at her home. Medical teams provided life-saving treatment and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts until her heart began beating again. She was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious but stable condition, sedated and intubated.

MDA paramedic Eliyahu Shlomi, senior MDA medic Yair Aba Shaul, and MDA medic Yishai Ruben recounted: 'We received a report about a girl of about 3 years old who choked on a grape. We found the child unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. We immediately knew we had to act quickly; we began performing advanced resuscitation procedures, including chest compressions and artificial respiration, and with the help of advanced medical equipment, we removed the pieces of grape from her throat. After her heart began beating again, we evacuated her to the hospital in stable condition, sedated and intubated.'
