Ex-Beitar Jerusalem player Itzik Kornfein went on air on the 103fm sports program and spoke about the 2:1 loss to Austria Vienna.

«Beitar has a good team and a good squad. I think what they mainly lack is match fitness, match minutes. Even in the game against Austria Vienna, at least in the first half, Beitar was very good, the result should certainly not have been 1:1. Beitar should have been leading at least 2:0. They didn't score, conceded a goal and then another one in the second half. I still think it's possible to advance».

Regarding Almog Cohen's decision to bench Omer Atzili and Yarden Shua:

«The motive was not to say: 'I took out Atzili and Shua'. It is also because the team is only at the beginning of the season, he wanted to bring in more freshness. There is no argument that they are the stars, but Almog Cohen knows exactly how much the players can give and how much strength they have in their legs. Almog Cohen is an excellent coach and Beitar is so important to him, he thought this change would be good. There is no leadership exercise here».

Kornfein analyzed the tactical approach:

«Beitar's style of play with the high press takes into account the possibility that the moment they lose the ball they will be more sparse, and then one through ball is more dangerous. Gedrani is not yet in the picture, and there is no doubt at all that when he and Carbali are together the defense is excellent. In my opinion, Beitar has not finished recruiting yet, and it needs additional reinforcement alongside Boris Enow».

On the strikers:

«This is a level that can win a championship — Weissman, Kalo, Ansah, together with Atzili and Shua — this is a proven front line that provides numbers, very diverse, there are 6-7 very good players there. You need to find the balance».
