Following a series of serious sanitary violations and failure to meet conditions set during May hearings, the District Health Office has issued an administrative order closing the "Tatam Tavin" business in Ashdod for 60 days.
The Ashkelon District Health Office issued an administrative restriction order on Wednesday mandating the immediate closure of the "Tatam Tavin" business, located at 41 HaAmal Street in Ashdod. The order, signed under the Public Health Protection Law (Food), strictly prohibits food production, the movement of goods, customer service, or any other activity at the site.
A series of failures and non-compliance
The Ministry of Health's decision follows a hearing held in May 2026, which exposed severe sanitary violations and the operation of the business without the legally required business and production licenses. Although the closure order was initially postponed on the condition that deficiencies be corrected, follow-up inspections throughout June confirmed that the business failed to meet these requirements.
Key deficiencies detailed in the order
The order highlights several critical failures that pose a risk to public health:

Lack of professional supervision: The business failed to employ a food safety consultant on a daily basis, leading to flawed workflows and a lack of understanding regarding food safety standards.

Temperature and disinfection failures: Inspectors recorded an abnormal temperature of 9 degrees Celsius in the freezer without any documentation. Furthermore, there were no records regarding vegetable disinfection, disinfectant concentrations, or temperature logs for hot and cold food leaving the premises.

Lack of laboratory testing and authorized transport: No food samples were taken for laboratory analysis, and the business could not provide proof of transport using vehicles licensed to maintain the necessary cold and heat chains.

Failure to submit building plans: The business failed to submit the required architectural plans and technical specifications for the new structure to obtain a preliminary opinion.
Enforcement and legal status
The order will remain in effect for 60 days. The Ministry of Health reserves the right to petition the court for an extension and may involve the Israel Police to ensure enforcement if necessary. While business owners have the right to file a request for cancellation in the Magistrate's Court, such a filing does not stay the immediate closure of the facility.
