Nicolas Tagliafico, one of the few players who had not yet spoken following Argentina's loss to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, broke his silence on his Twitch channel and addressed his future with the national team.

The 33-year-old left-back reflected on the loss of the world title:

"We have a gold medal, now also the silver. We should be proud of the World Cup we had. It is not easy to reach two consecutive finals; two medals is not something to be taken for granted. You have to appreciate it and also know how to lose. It shows that you managed to reach the end and gave everything. Unfortunately, sometimes in football you win and sometimes you lose. Do not think that this work was done in a month; we worked on it for three and a half years."

Regarding his future, after 83 international appearances, Tagliafico stated:

"This World Cup is worth even more to me. Maybe because it could be my last. I think so. This was my last. I don't think I will be able to reach another one. I would have liked to reach 100 appearances for the Argentina national team, but I don't think I will succeed."

Tagliafico is already thinking about life after his playing career: "I am taking coaching courses, but it is getting harder. The players have changed. Today, young players are more like stars."
