Clouds of smoke were seen rising today, Monday, in northern Tehran following a fire in a building adjacent to the Esteghlal Hotel. Thick black smoke covered the large structure, and flames were visible from nearby rooftops.

A correspondent for official Iranian television at the scene noted that "hotel guests were evacuated for their safety." Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Tehran Fire Department announced that the fire had been brought under full control and no casualties were reported.

The official IRNA news agency noted that the hotel, formerly known as the Royal Hilton and opened in the 1960s, includes over 550 rooms and suites. The Tasnim news agency added that the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
