Elon Musk Confirms SpaceX Restricted Starlink Speeds for Ukraine Forces

Elon Musk acknowledged that SpaceX restricted the speed of the Starlink satellite internet service in Ukraine, disrupting the operations of Ukrainian forces on the front lines and affecting drone operations. Meanwhile, Ukraine announced that access to Starlink and Starshield systems has returned to pre-restriction speeds after more than a week of disruptions.

In a post on the X platform, Musk claimed that the Ukrainian military violated Starlink terms of service by using the network for offensive drone attacks intended to kill people. He stressed that Starshield, a separate communication system controlled by the United States government, operates under different rules and decisions regarding its use rest with Washington.

Musk emphasized that Starlink remains critical to Ukraine defense, noting that without the system, the front line would collapse immediately. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that access to the communication networks has been fully restored, while the debate over responsibility for the restrictions continues amid political tensions between Kyiv and Washington.
