Investment giant UBS: How to navigate the stock market amid rising bond yields
The rise in US bond yields is worrying investors, but UBS bank presents a positive outlook for stocks and identifies the safest investment channels for the near term.

In a review by the Swiss investment bank UBS, analysts addressed the market's reaction to the rise in US government bond yields.
"US long-term bond yields remain at a high level, despite the recent intervention by the US administration, while markets await the details of the fiscal consolidation plan signaled by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The rise in real yields is what led to the recent increase in the long end of the yield curve, as markets reprice the risk premium against the backdrop of the return of inflation and fiscal deficit concerns to the forefront."
For investors, the central question now is how to act in response to the rise in yields. UBS's base case remains that yields are expected to fall as inflation moderates. Such a positive macroeconomic outcome should support the continued expansion of the rally in stock markets.
In the longer term, initiatives that lead to financial restraint and an artificial lowering of yields are expected to benefit the stock market, with gold also expected to be among the beneficiaries of such a scenario. The bank's key recommendations are:
-
Focus on high-quality bonds with short to medium duration.
-
Stay invested as the stock rally expands.
-
Maintain a strategic allocation to gold.
Mark Haefele, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of UBS Global Wealth Management, notes:
"Despite market concerns regarding long-term bond yields, we believe that long-term investors should remain invested through a broadly diversified investment portfolio. We maintain a positive outlook on global stocks, prefer high-quality bonds with short to medium duration, and see gold as an effective component for portfolio diversification."
