Likud MK Accuses Eyal Zamir: "Chief of Staff Is Fighting Against Decisive Victory"

Likud MK Amit Halevi sharply criticized IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and the military leadership this morning. In an interview with the ynet studio, he claimed that "Zamir, unfortunately, like Herzi Halevi and the rest of the generals, is constantly fighting against control, against occupation, and against a decisive victory" in the Gaza Strip.

"Why hasn't the IDF submitted a single plan for a decisive victory to the cabinet to this day?" he asked. He further attacked the military regarding the events of October 7: "Due to their vast military experience, they did not identify the enemy, and when the enemy invaded, massacred, and raped, they were paralyzed for hours. This is the same IDF, the same Chief of Staff, the same Air Force commander."

Regarding the roadmap for US President Donald Trump's peace plan, under which Hamas allegedly agreed to disarm, Halevi stated: "Israeli interests are entrusted to the government of Israel, not to the USA. We are responsible for our interests, and Trump is responsible for his." The MK expressed skepticism about Hamas's disarmament, calling it "just another Islamic deception of the West."

Addressing the Iranian threat, Halevi emphasized the need to prepare for future campaigns. He noted that while the IDF has reached controlling positions, the mission remains incomplete. "Hamas still controls the territory, and total victory has not been achieved yet," he added.

When asked about the role of the political echelon, Halevi noted that the government had determined the destruction of Hamas's military and political capabilities as a primary goal on the night of October 7. "I, as a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, have demanded the implementation of this cabinet decision almost every week. My explanation is that security and legal concepts still dominate the state, preventing our systems from acting effectively," the MK concluded.
