Customer furious at El Al prepares for lawsuit: "They stole $1,490 from me"

A new storm surrounds the national airline: a viral post recently published on social media raises serious allegations against El Al's conduct during the war. Against the backdrop of growing complaints about exorbitant prices and the exploitation of the security situation due to the lack of competition, an Israeli passenger shares his story and claims that the company is holding $1,490 of his money as a 'hostage'.

According to the passenger, at the height of the escalation with Iran, he was forced to cancel his flight. Although the website presented an option to choose between a refund and a credit voucher, in practice, the system did not allow for a refund and forced him to generate a voucher. The absurdity occurred the next day, when El Al itself cancelled the flight - which should have automatically entitled him to a full refund by law.

"El Al stole $1,490 from me and refuses to release it," he describes.

However, since then, the customer has encountered a wall of indifference to his requests. El Al's customer relations division sent him a laconic refusal letter stating that a credit voucher was issued lawfully, and they have no possibility to convert it into a monetary refund.

The passenger does not intend to give up and has declared that he intends to turn to legal authorities with a demand to receive his money.

"This is not a negligible amount, and this has long since ceased to be a matter of poor customer service, this is the predatory conduct of a company that has become drunk on its own power," writes the angry customer.

He concludes: "A company that exploits the fact that it has no real competition right now, traps us in opaque bureaucracy, and holds people's money hostage."
