Kite found in Gaza envelope, council head: 'It came from Gaza'
A kite was discovered in Moshav Shuva in the western Negev. The IDF is investigating, noting that no explosive devices were found. Sdot Negev Regional Council head Tamir Idan called the incident a 'red line' that requires a firm response.
Over the weekend, a kite was found in Moshav Shuva in the Gaza envelope, which residents claim originated from the Gaza Strip. The IDF emphasized that no explosive device was found attached to it, and it cannot be determined with certainty that the kite came from Gaza.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated on Sunday:
'On Friday, a kite was identified in the area of Moshav Shuva. The incident is under investigation. Upon inspection by security forces, no suspicious findings were located.'
The military noted that it is impossible to confirm if the kite crossed the border. If it did originate from the Strip, this would be at least the third such case since October 7. There is concern that this is a field test by Palestinians to check landing zones for potential future use with explosive or incendiary payloads.
Sdot Negev Regional Council head Tamir Idan is convinced the kite came from Gaza:
'This is a serious incident that should not be taken lightly. The infiltration of an aerial device from the Gaza Strip into our settlements is a red line. We must not get used to it, we must not contain it, and we must not wait for the next incident. Today it is a kite without a payload, tomorrow it could carry explosives, and later the threat could come from drones. We have already learned this lesson at too high a price.'
Idan added that residents will not accept sporadic attacks or a return to previous security realities:
'There must be a firm response. A price must be exacted for every attempt to harm the security of Gaza envelope residents, making it clear to the other side that the State of Israel will not allow a return to a reality of threats from the Gaza Strip.'
Regarding the discourse on the 'day after' in Gaza, Idan added: 'We will not accept any talk of arrangements as long as the security of the Gaza envelope residents is not fully guaranteed. The condition is clear: full dismantling of Hamas, demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, and ensuring full, stable, and uncompromising security for the region.'
