Former Netanyahu aide reveals: The unusual demand I refused to carry out

Yoav Horowitz, a former confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was one of the senior figures in his office. Among his roles, Horowitz served as the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff and as Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office. In addition, he managed ongoing and sensitive matters with ministers, politicians, and media outlets.

In an interview with Lior Keinan on the program "Shishi" on Channel 13, Yoav Horowitz appears before the cameras for the first time and talks about his relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the conversations he held with him behind the scenes, and the sensitive missions he was asked to carry out.

During the interview, which will be broadcast on Friday on Channel 13, Yoav Horowitz reveals a particularly unusual story:

"They approached me, they told me they wanted me to have the office staff sign a loyalty pledge to the Netanyahu family. I went into the Prime Minister, spoke to him about it, and said that this would not happen. Also because they will correct you, there is nothing to be done with it. Secondly, it has no meaning whatsoever."

When asked who requested that he have the office staff sign the unusual document, Horowitz replied: "This demand came from the house. Not to me, but through the office staff." The former senior official in Netanyahu's office explained what lies behind the request to have the office staff sign this clause in an official document: "It means that personal benefit comes before everything else. That is what it means, without going into details."

As recalled, Yoav Horowitz, former Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office, resigned from his position in June 2019. Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed the departure of the senior official: "Yoav was at the center of key actions and helped me greatly in important work for the State of Israel. I am sure he will continue to succeed in his future path." Yoav Horowitz thanked the Prime Minister: "Thank you for the opportunity and the trust I received from him and for the privilege to work alongside him and to serve the citizens of Israel and the State of Israel."
