Fans are already counting the days until the launch of GTA 6, but a former Rockstar developer is dampening the enthusiasm and warning that the game could be delayed once again, and perhaps even pushed into 2027.

Mike York, a former senior animator who worked on GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, claimed in an interview with Indy100 that he would not be surprised if Rockstar decides to delay the launch for a third time. He emphasized: "If November arrives and they think the last mission still doesn't look good enough and that it has some bugs, they will delay the game for another six months if they have to."

York added that Rockstar is not particularly afraid of disappointing fans: "They can do whatever they want, and people will wait. If they have to do it, they won't hesitate. I don't think it will hurt them."

As of now, GTA 6 is still expected to be released on November 19, and pre-orders have already opened. However, Rockstar's history shows that even this does not guarantee the launch date will remain fixed; GTA 5 was delayed after pre-sales opened, while its PC version was delayed no less than three times.
