Tuscan Winery Cancels Reservation for Israeli Couple Over Politics
An Israeli couple in Tuscany had their winery tour canceled after the owner demanded they justify Israel's policies, citing a Palestinian flag at the venue.

An Israeli couple visiting Tuscany faced an unexpected political test when the owner of a local winery canceled their reservation after discovering their nationality, asking them to justify Israeli government policies.
Adi and Itamar, residents of Tel Aviv, booked a tasting session at the Il Cerchio winery near Capalbio for Friday. Shortly after confirming the visit, the winery owner, Corinna, sent Adi a message demanding to know her stance on the ongoing conflict. The owner stated that a Palestinian flag hangs outside her window and conditioned the visit on their political agreement, writing that she could not tolerate hypocrisy.
In her response, Adi rejected the political screening, pointing out the double standard and noting that visitors from other nations are rarely subjected to such ideological tests. Adi emphasized that friends of theirs were murdered by Hamas and criticized the owner for injecting politics into hospitality. In a subsequent exchange, the owner referenced casualty figures from the war and remarked that everyone is a victim of hatred before officially canceling the encounter.
This incident follows a similar recent event in Italy, where approximately 100 Jewish educators from the United States and Israel canceled a study trip to the Reggio Emilia region after being asked to sign a declaration condemning Israel as a prerequisite for participation.
