Turkish and Syrian Criticism of Jerusalem
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan claimed that Israel is incapable of promoting any policy that does not involve bloodshed. He added that Israeli policy systematically undermines stability in Syria and indirectly supports terrorist organizations such as ISIS. According to Fidan, Israeli military operations hinder the new Syrian government's ability to establish security and combat terror.
"We do not want to see a confrontation with Israel in Syria, because Syria belongs to the Syrians," Fidan stated in a recent interview, adding that Ankara seeks a Syria with full territorial integrity where all communities feel secure.
Regional Tensions and Diplomatic Efforts
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hasan al-Shibani reiterated Damascus's stance that Syria's unity and sovereignty are non-negotiable. The Syrian government aims to restore state authority across the country and prevent armed militias from operating outside the law. Washington is currently working to expand coordination mechanisms between Israel, Syria, and Turkey to prevent a direct military escalation.
