"Do you see where you are?": Drunk driver found stuck on a roundabout in Karmiel

An indictment was filed against a 62-year-old driver from Karmiel who was apprehended about a week ago in the early morning hours, after his vehicle became stuck on a central city roundabout due to his severe intoxication. His vehicle was impounded, and formal charges have been brought against him.

"Do you see where you are? You are on a roundabout," police officers asked the bewildered driver, who was caught red-handed in the heart of Karmiel. The incident occurred when Northern District officers noticed a private vehicle that had climbed onto a roundabout on a main street and was unsuccessfully attempting to reverse back into traffic.

The officers rushed to the vehicle and noted that the 62-year-old local resident emitted a strong smell of alcohol. A breathalyzer test performed on the spot revealed an exceptionally high result of 1,016 micrograms of alcohol per liter of exhaled air—four times the legal limit.

Following the incident, the driver was arrested for questioning by the Galilee District traffic investigation unit. His vehicle was seized and impounded for 30 days, and upon completion of the investigation, an indictment was filed at the Traffic Court in Akko.
