IDF Concludes Eight-Month Mission in Southern Lebanon
The IDF announced the completion of the 401st Brigade Combat Team's mission in southern Lebanon. Over eight months, forces eliminated more than 60 terrorists and destroyed over 1,200 Hezbollah infrastructure sites.
The IDF destroyed more than 1,200 terrorist infrastructure sites, located over 600 weapons, and eliminated more than 60 terrorists. After eight months of defensive and offensive activity in the security zone in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced on Sunday that the 401st Brigade Combat Team under the command of the 91st Division has completed its mission.
The 401st Brigade Combat Team operated in the area for eight months, conducting defensive operations along the border alongside offensive raids to remove threats to the State of Israel.
During the activity, forces destroyed over 1,200 infrastructure sites belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization, including underground routes totaling hundreds of meters, which were demolished in cooperation with Yahalom forces.
In May, the commander of the 401st 'Iron Tracks' Brigade, Colonel Meir Biderman, was seriously wounded when an explosive drone hit a building housing IDF forces. A senior officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel was also seriously wounded, and a reserve soldier sustained light-to-moderate injuries. All were transferred to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Biderman had replaced Ehsan Daqsa, who fell in battle in Jabalia in October 2024.
"Removing the threat from Israel"
Commander of the 401st Brigade, Colonel Yoav Schneider, stated:
"The purpose is preventing and removing the threat to the citizens of Israel. This is the purpose we repeated morning and evening. The brigade's achievements in Lebanon were achieved at a heavy price, both by the brigade's fighters and by the brigade combat team."
"We will always remember the brigade's fallen, and they will always be in our hearts forever. With the fall of every soldier, we grieve and bow our heads, but at the same moment, we rely on values and look straight ahead to complete the mission, to ensure that their loss will not be in vain."
