US Secret Service Deploys Air Defense Systems Around Mar-a-Lago Estate
US Secret Service deploys Avenger air defense systems around Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, while maritime tensions escalate in the Strait of Hormuz following a tanker attack.

The US Secret Service has significantly reinforced security around Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, deploying mobile air defense systems amid heightened security concerns. Two Avenger air defense systems, equipped with Stinger missiles, were spotted on a floating platform in the lake adjacent to the presidential estate. According to reports, the systems were first deployed on October 23, shortly before Trump's arrival. An additional battery was positioned at the southern section of the Palm Beach International Airport, near the designated parking area for Air Force One.
The Secret Service issued a statement emphasizing that the agency continuously adapts its security protocols to integrate advanced tools and technologies against potential high-level threats. Manufactured by Boeing, the Avenger system utilizes a modified Humvee chassis mounted with a turret carrying two launcher pods of FIM-92 Stinger short-range infrared-homing surface-to-air missiles, alongside a heavy machine gun. Defense analysts note that the unprecedented public deployment in a civilian area may be linked to ongoing threats from Iran, potential drone or aircraft risks, and upcoming high-profile diplomatic events.
Simultaneously, maritime security tensions escalated in the Strait of Hormuz as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy claimed it intercepted two oil tankers traversing the strategic waterway without prior coordination. Shipping sources confirmed that a Panama-flagged tanker, the Louise 1, suffered a mechanical fire following a magnetic limpet mine attack off the coast of Oman. Maritime risk management firms warned that the effective use of limpet mines deployed by small vessels poses a severe threat to congested shipping lanes, as regional tensions persist.
