Three Killed in Mid-Air Helicopter Collision Near Oregon Airport
Three people were killed in a mid-air collision between two helicopters near an airport in Oregon. Federal authorities have launched an investigation into the fatal crash.
Three people were killed overnight between Thursday and Friday after two helicopters collided in mid-air near an airport in the state of Oregon. According to local sheriff's office reports, the two involved aircraft—a Robinson R22 helicopter and an Airbus helicopter—crashed in an open field adjacent to a highway.
Authorities reported that the Robinson R22, operated by a flight school, carried a 22-year-old flight instructor from Texas and a flight student from the United Kingdom. The second helicopter carried a pilot and a single passenger, both of whom died at the scene.
Jerry Trimble Helicopters issued an official statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident and confirming that one of its aircraft was involved in the crash. The company emphasized that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement and investigative authorities.
The circumstances of the fatal collision remain unclear at this stage. Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board arrived at the crash site and launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities urged the public to stay away from the area to allow emergency and investigative teams to perform their work.
