Florida Court Dismisses Donald Trump's $10 Billion Suit Against WSJ
A federal judge in Florida has dismissed Donald Trump's $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal over a published birthday greeting.

A federal judge in Florida has dismissed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit filed by U.S. President Donald Trump against The Wall Street Journal and media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. The lawsuit stemmed from an article publishing a controversial birthday greeting allegedly sent by Trump to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Federal Judge Darin Gayles ruled that Trump failed to demonstrate actual malice by the publication. Trump had strongly denied authoring the birthday card featuring an illustration of a nude woman and his signature, while the White House dismissed the document as a forgery.
Trump initially filed the massive lawsuit in July, targeting News Corp, CEO Robert Thomson, publisher Dow Jones & Company, and the reporters involved. Dow Jones defended its reporting, stating it had full confidence in the accuracy and integrity of its journalism.
In a 20-page ruling dismissing the case with prejudice, Judge Gayles highlighted the thorough and detailed investigation conducted by the newspaper prior to publication, concluding that the legal team failed to prove malicious intent.
