According to reports from Spain, police were called to the renovation site after a 54-year-old worker was injured while performing his duties. Medical teams attempted to save his life but were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.
In accordance with standard procedure, authorities notified the duty court and the Catalonia Department of Labor, which have begun examining the circumstances of the incident. An investigation has been opened to determine how the accident occurred.
The Camp Nou renovation is considered one of the largest construction projects in Europe in recent years. Thousands of workers are employed at the site, and significant milestones have been achieved in recent months, including the completion of the third tier and the ongoing erection of the support ring that will eventually hold the stadium roof.
Barcelona hopes to return to the renovated Camp Nou during the upcoming season, having hosted its home matches in recent years at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc.
