Tinder Imposter Arrested After Woman Exposes Fake Shin Bet Operative
An Israeli woman exposed a Tinder scammer who posed as a Shin Bet operative and claimed his family was murdered on October 7, leading to his arrest.
A woman from northern Israel known as A. met a man on Tinder who claimed to be a Shin Bet operative whose family was murdered on October 7. After realizing he was an imposter, she gathered evidence against him before he was arrested on suspicion of impersonation, fraud, and sexual offenses.
"When I realized I had fallen victim to a romantic scam, I decided to stay and prevent grief and frustration for many other women," A. recounted. They met on Tinder, where he claimed to operate in the West Bank, specifically in Jenin, and falsely stated he was from an envelope kibbutz where his family was killed.
The suspect, a 34-year-old married father from Kiryat Ata, claimed he lost his home and suffered financial losses due to October 7. After transferring thousands of shekels to him over several months, A. filed a police complaint, leading to his arrest, and his detention has been extended.
