Indictment Filed Against TikTok User for Incitement and Praising Hamas Terror
A 19-year-old resident of Segev Shalom was indicted in Beersheba for dozens of offenses involving TikTok incitement to terror, glorifying the October 7 massacres, and praising Hamas leaders.
The Southern District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment at the Beersheba Magistrate's Court against 19-year-old Dipalah Abu Ragila from Segev Shalom, charging him with dozens of offenses of incitement to terror, expressing identification with a terrorist organization, and direct calls to commit terrorist acts. According to the indictment, filed by Adv. Noam Elia Lehav, Abu Ragila published 45 inciting posts on his TikTok account, which had 877 followers and approximately 5,500 likes. The content glorified the October 7 massacres and praised prominent terrorist figures.
TikTok Propaganda and Terror Glorification
Investigators discovered that during the months leading up to his arrest, and intensively on a daily basis in August, Abu Ragila shared numerous materials from pages associated with Hamas and terrorist memorial accounts. The published content included footage of the October 7 attacks, as well as praise for terrorist leaders such as Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, Ahmed Yassin, and Ibrahim Nabulsi. In one specific post, he shared a video glorifying a terrorist who murdered 20 Israelis within 10 minutes during the massacre. Another post featured a call presenting jihad and combat as a religious duty and a way to purify the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The multitude of publications, their content, and the direct call to commit a terrorist act demonstrate the danger posed by the defendant, and the current security situation exacerbates the risk to public safety, stated the prosecution.
Detention Until the End of Legal Proceedings
Alongside the indictment, the prosecution requested that the court order Abu Ragila's detention until the end of legal proceedings. A search of his mobile phone revealed daily engagement with terrorism, including WhatsApp chats, gallery images, and active tracking of Hamas support pages. During interrogation, Abu Ragila stated that he previously disliked Hamas, but after seeing numerous TikTok videos following October 7, he developed an affinity for the organization.
