Texas Barber Finds Over $128,000 Left on ATM and Returns It to Police
A Texas barber discovered $128,514 left on a Bank of America ATM by a Brink's technician and immediately called police. The funds were safely returned to the bank.

A Shocking Discovery at the ATM
How much money would you expect to find when walking up to an ATM? A 37-year-old barber from Texas went to withdraw cash and surprisingly discovered a bag left on the machine containing no less than $128,514. However, the real surprise came when police uncovered how such a massive sum was left completely unattended.
The incident took place on August 3 in the city of Lewisville, Texas, but details were later revealed in a report by CBS News. The man arrived at a Bank of America ATM accompanied by a 42-year-old woman, and the two noticed two bags placed on the device. One of them contained stacks of cash, while the other held 19 checks.
Honesty Prevails and Police Investigation
Instead of taking the money for himself, the barber decided to try and locate its owner. Information appearing on one of the bags led him to believe the money belonged to a nearby branch of the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A. He drove to the restaurant, but the manager clarified that the money did not belong there. At this point, the man called the emergency 911 dispatch and summoned the police.
Officers who arrived at the scene counted the money twice and even used a bill-counting machine. The amount matched a receipt found in the bag down to the cent—$128,514, without a single dollar missing.
"I have never had a case like this," said police investigator Gina Miller, noting she had never encountered anyone returning such a large sum of cash.
So how was such a sum forgotten on the ATM? The investigation revealed that the money belonged to Bank of America, and that a technician from Brink's, the company responsible for handling cash for the bank, had arrived to service the ATM. The technician was supposed to take the money with him, but apparently forgot the bag on the machine and left.
Police clarified that no criminal activity was suspected, and the money was successfully returned to the bank. Brink's declined to comment on the incident details. The barber, who wished to remain anonymous, did not seek publicity for his honest deed. Local police announced they wish to present him with an award of appreciation, while he made it clear he would only agree to participate in a private ceremony.
