Resuscitation efforts for a toddler of about a year and a half who drowned in a home pool in Ashkelon
A toddler of about a year and a half was evacuated to Barzilai Hospital in critical condition after drowning in a private pool in Ashkelon. Medical teams continue to fight for her life.
A toddler of about a year and a half drowned this afternoon, Thursday, in a pool at a private home in Ashkelon. Magen David Adom (MDA) teams summoned to the scene found her in critical condition and evacuated her to the city's Barzilai Hospital while performing resuscitation efforts.
MDA paramedic Moti Shuv and EMTs Roi Lasri and Gabriel Kucherenko said:
"When we arrived at the private home, they brought us a toddler of about a year and a half who was unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing. We began performing advanced resuscitation efforts that included chest compressions, artificial respiration, and administration of medication, and while continuing the resuscitation efforts, we evacuated her to the hospital with her condition defined as critical, and we are fighting for her life."
Two days ago, a 5-year-old boy drowned in a public pool in the town of Omer in the Negev. An MDA team was summoned to the scene and performed resuscitation efforts on him, and he was evacuated in serious condition to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba. A day earlier, a toddler of about two years old drowned in a pool at a private home in the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council in the Jerusalem area. MDA EMTs and paramedics who arrived at the scene provided him with initial medical treatment and performed resuscitation efforts, and he was evacuated by helicopter to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, but his death was pronounced there.
On Saturday, a 64-year-old man drowned near Neve Yam beach south of Atlit. He was pulled from the water unconscious, and MDA teams summoned to the scene evacuated him while performing resuscitation efforts to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where his death was pronounced. Less than two hours later, a man of about 60 drowned at Blue Bay beach in Netanya and was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition. Another 65-year-old man was evacuated in critical condition after being pulled from the sea near a beach in Herzliya.
