A major breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation into a series of unprovoked assaults against women in Tel Aviv over recent months. Law enforcement officers arrested a female suspect on Wednesday afternoon following a wave of new testimonies and formal complaints submitted to the police.

The arrest comes in the wake of media reports that brought forward initial accounts from victims who stated they were targeted randomly on the streets and at entertainment venues in the southern part of the city. Following the broadcast of security camera footage, five additional women came forward to report similar incidents, recognizing the suspect from the published recordings.

Victims noted that the public exposure and the realization that others had suffered comparable ordeals provided them with the confidence to file official police complaints. Prompted by the new evidence, investigators reopened previously closed files and summoned complainants for further testimony, culminating in Wednesday's arrest.

According to the testimonies, the assaults occurred in public spaces and nightlife spots. In one incident, a resident named Hili recounted walking along Park HaMesila with her husband when the suspect suddenly lunged forward and attempted to strangle her, later spitting at and cursing her husband. Another witness, Sharon, described an incident at a local bar where a bucket of ice was violently pushed toward a patron. Additional reports included a case where a large stone shattered the rear window of a moving vehicle.

The suspect was brought before a court on Thursday, where a judge ordered her detention extended by five days. Authorities stated that a reasonable suspicion of the offenses exists, alongside grounds for detention based on public safety, while the precise motive behind the attacks remains under investigation.
