Police in Bnei Brak arrested two suspects on Thursday on suspicion of extortion, threats, and online harassment targeting individuals accused of animal abuse.
According to law enforcement, the investigation was launched following complaints from multiple victims, including a minor, who reported receiving online threats, financial extortion demands, and defamatory videos circulated across social media.
Investigators examining the digital content discovered videos in which the primary suspect threatened complainants, demanding monetary "fines" under the pretext that the victims had mistreated animals.
Following the inquiry, Bnei Brak station officers detained a local resident in his 40s. Later in the day, authorities arrested a second suspect residing in Bat Yam in connection with the ongoing extortion scheme.
