Electric vehicle drivers charging in municipal parking lots in Tel Aviv are now facing a sharp price increase. Ahuzot HaHof, the municipal parking corporation, updated its charging station rates, raising the price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 1.24 NIS compared to 81 agorot at the beginning of the month—a surge of approximately 53%. This price hike comes less than three months after parking tariffs themselves rose by about 20%.

Price Breakdown and Cost Impact

According to the EV-Edge app rate details, charging at Ahuzot HaHof facilities cost 81 agorot per kWh during most of the week in early October. From Monday through Thursday between 17:00 and 22:00, the price stood at 85 agorot. Today, the rate is 1.24 NIS, representing an addition of 43 agorot per kWh. In practical terms, charging 50 kWh previously cost about 40.5 NIS, and now reaches roughly 62 NIS.

Market Context and Unregulated Rates

"The charging tariff in Ahuzot HaHof parking lots was updated against the background of rising operating, electricity, and maintenance costs, after remaining unchanged since 2023," stated Ahuzot HaHof.

Unlike gasoline and household electricity tariffs, public charging station prices are unregulated, allowing each supplier to set them independently. For comparison, home charging costs about 60 agorot per kWh, while public fast charging across general networks can range between 1.75 and 2.85 NIS per kWh depending on location and time.
