Taylor Malkov on her partner: "We refuse to break up"
For almost a year, Taylor Malkov and Isaac Nakash, son of a prominent American-Jewish family, have been in a relationship, often managing it from afar. In a recent interview, Malkov opened up about the challenges of long-distance and the joy of their time together: "Sometimes we don't see each other for more than a month, but there is always a sense of longing and excitement."
Between high-profile advertising campaigns and theater roles, Taylor Malkov is marking a year of dating Isaac Nakash, son of a prominent family in the United States. Despite the geographical distance and the time spent apart, the couple is currently enjoying a period together in Israel.
«He came for the whole summer, and we are making the most of it. He has family here, but we don't see each other during the periods he is away. Sometimes it's more than a month, and there is a lot of longing, but it's a good kind of longing,» she told Niv Raskin on 'Morning News'. «We've learned to deal with the time difference. Right now, we refuse to break up; we lived together for two months. I will likely fly to him during the holidays.»
When asked what it's like to reunite after a long time apart, she noted: «We've talked about it—it's like meeting a new person in a specific place. We've been through it, and the butterflies are always there.»
About two weeks ago, Nakash uploaded a video to his Instagram story featuring Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, capturing a moment after they congratulated Yair. This wasn't their first meeting, as Netanyahu's son had arrived straight from an event to a surprise party Malkov organized for Nakash.
When she isn't spending time with her partner, Malkov is celebrating the 50th performance of the stage adaptation of the classic 'Charlie and a Half'.
«The audience thanks us for the laughter we bring. I play 'Gila,' which is such an iconic role. We have a fantastic cast that adds new punches and improvisations to the stage,» she said.
Reflecting on the play's evolution, she added: «When you have a great cast, like Miki Geva, the original play gains new layers through his improvisations. I am very disciplined and don't dare to stray from the direction, but there are small tricks that make the play ours; it has gained character. The performance has actually lengthened thanks to these improvisations.»
Regarding the pressure of performing such a classic, she admitted: «It was a huge fear that existed in the rehearsal room, including for director Ilan Rosenfeld. We wanted to touch the material without changing too much, like the egg scene. We perform it properly on stage, and the audience participates with us. In the memorable scene where Charlie gets into a car accident and Gila cries insanely, we adapted it to me, making the crying refined and real. Tears come up; you learn how to cry.»
What brings her to tears? «There are many things, something different every time. Sometimes you are just acting, but it's not the 'onion tears' from the movie.»
Looking ahead, Malkov has been cast in 'Alice in Wonderland'. «It's for Hanukkah, and we are starting work soon. I am stepping into Alice's shoes, and two friends from 'Charlie and a Half,' Miki Geva and Shlomi Ifrah, are joining as well. It's an amazing cast, and we are looking forward to bringing the story to the stage while staying true to the amazing film.»
